MT. Kilimanjaro Climbing TOUR |Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour |KILIMANJARO TREKKING |CLIMBING KILIMANJARO TANZANIA
Kilimanjaro is not only Africa’s tallest peak, but also the world’s tallest free standing mountain.(Kilimanjaro Climbing) The summit, named Uhuru Point, is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level.
Most high mountains are part of ranges, such as Mount Everest’s Himalayan Mountain Range. These are formed in a process called plate tectonics. Below the ground, Earth’s crust is made up of multiple tectonic plates. These plates have been moving since the beginning of time due to geologic activity (Kilimanjaro Climbing TOUR).
When plates push against each other, the edges crumple, forcing slabs of rock into the air. These are known as fold mountains and are the most common type of mountain. A fault-block mountain range is caused when a fault (crack) in the Earth’s crust pushes blocks of rock up between two tectonic plates. The uplifted blocks become block mountains.
Free standing mountains like Kilimanjaro are usually a result of volcanic activity. Volcanic mountains are formed when molten rock erupts, and piles upon the surface.

LEMOSHO Route |CLIMBING KILIMANJARO VIA LEMOSHO Route |Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA LEMSOHO Route |KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route
The Lemosho Route is often considered the most beautiful of all the trekking trails up Mount Kilimanjaro (KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route).
It is one of the newer Routes on the mountain and shares a portion of the same path as Machame Route, although it holds a few advantages over that Route that definitely make worth considering, particularly for travelers who have some extra time (KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route).
Starting the western flanks of Mount Kilimanjaro at the Londorossi Gate, the Lemosho Route wanders its way up one of the more remote sections of the mountain (KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route).
The trail takes hikers through a beautiful rain forest where they might have the chance to spot wildlife along the way. Black and white colobus monkeys are routinely seen in the forests, as are blue monkeys, small lizard and a wide assortment of birds. From there, the path wanders out onto the Shira Plateau, crossing it from west to east on relatively flat and easy to walk terrain (KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route).

Once the bus is loaded, you will say goodbye to the comforts of the hotel and start the journey! The drive will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach the Londrossi Gate, on the west side of Kilimanjaro (Kilimanjaro Climbing 1 Day via Lemosho Route).
Some of the drive is on main roads, however parts of the road are unfinished, dirt roads, with bumpy terrain! The Londrossi Gate is located at 2,250m/ 7,382 feet (Kilimanjaro Climbing 1 Day via Lemosho Route).
LEMOSHO 6 Days |6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA LEMOSHO Route |6 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route |6 Days KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA LEMOSHO Route
Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic views on various sides of the mountain (6 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Lemosho Route).
The six Day Lemosho Route variation is not recommended because it is difficult to cover the distance and elevation in the allotted time. However, this 6 Days Route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses (6 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Lemosho Route).
Specifically, on Day two, the journey from Forest Camp to Shira II, is rather long and has a higher elevation gain. It would not be unusual for climbers to have symptoms of altitude sickness while only on the second Day of the hike due to the quick pace (6 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Lemosho Route).
Secondly, Day four combined with Day five makes for a very tough schedule. Day four is a full Day of trekking from Barranco to Barafu. Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit Day begins around midnight. The 6 Days Lemosho Route hike, requires 19-24 hours of a demanding walk, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep (6 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Lemosho Route).
LEMOSHO 7 Days |7 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA LEMOSHO Route |7 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route |7 Days KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA LEMOSHO Route
The Lemosho Route is lesser known. It begins on the western side of Kilimanjaro. Walking through the rainforest for the first two Days the vegetation changes to heath and moorland with many ferns and ericas along the way (7 Days Lemosho Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing / Trekking).
The narrow trail sometimes has some very steep sections and is scenically diverse (7 Days Lemosho Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing / Trekking).
On the third Day, the trail joins the Machame Route. Hikers overnight in tents (7 Days Lemosho Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing / Trekking).
LEMOSHO 8 Days |8 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA LEMOSHO Route |8 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route |8 Days KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA LEMOSHO Route
A relatively new Route up to the mountain and extremely beautiful. It’s our favorite Routes because it offers a great balance of high summit Success Rate, scenic views and low traffic. This may be the most beautiful Route to take, with breathtaking views on all sides of the mountain and if you wanted a more private experience with fewer climber (8 Days Lemosho Route, Kilimanjaro Hiking/CLimbing Tour)
This is one of the few Routes where an armed ranger accompanies our groups, since there are still animals in the forest around the Lemosho Glades. But 8 Days is preferable for better acclimatization and summit success (8 Days Lemosho Route, Kilimanjaro Hiking/CLimbing Tour).
LEMOSHO 9 Days |9 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA LEMOSHO Route |9 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA LEMOSHO Route |9 Days KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA LEMOSHO Route
Lemosho Route 9 Days approaches Mount Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the west of the mountain, crossing the caldera of Shira volcano and exploring the rock formations of the plateau, before traversing beneath the Southern Ice Fields of Kibo (Kilimanjaro Climbing/Hiking 9 Days Lemosho Route).
We make our final ascent by the Barafu Route. There are often stunning views of Kibo in the sharp light of morning and early evening. The Lemosho Route 9 Days itinerary gives the absolute maximum possible acclimatization and also gives us an unusual view of the montain forests on Kilimanjaro (Kilimanjaro Climbing/Hiking 9 Days Lemosho Route).
MACHAME Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MACHAME Route |KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MACHAME Route |KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA MACHAME Route
The most popular Route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro these Days is Machame Route, and for good reason. This trail offers stunning views, a reasonable challenge, and plenty of time to acclimate, making it a good choice for those who have a bit of extra time in their schedule (Machame Route Packages, Kilimanjaro Trekking/climbing via Machame Route).
Machame Route has been nicknamed the “Whiskey Route” because it is often perceived as being tougher than Marangu Route, which is often referred to as the “Coca-Cola” Route. Unlike that trail however, camping is allowed on Machame, which means trekkers will be sleeping in tents all the way to the summit (Machame Route Packages, Kilimanjaro Trekking/climbing via Machame Route).

MACHAME Day TRIP |Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MACHAME Route |MACHAME Day TRIP CLIMBING KILIMANJARO |1 Day Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MACHAME Route |Day TRIP KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MACHAME Route
For those who only have six Days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame Route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six Day Routes, the Machame Route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (Day three) which kickstarts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this Route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses (Machame Day trip, Kilimanjaro hiking via Machame Route.
The six Day Machame variation is a difficult Route. In particular, Day four combined with Day five makes for a very hard schedule. Day four is a full Day of hiking from Barranco to Barafu (Machame Day trip, Kilimanjaro hiking via Machame Route.
Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit Day begins around midnight. The 6 Day Machame Route requires 19-24 hours of demanding walking, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep (Machame Day trip, Kilimanjaro hiking via Machame Route.
MACHAME 7 Days |7 Days MACHAME Route |7 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MACHAME Route |Kilimanjaro Climbing 7 Days VIA MACHAME Route |7 Days KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA MACHAME Route
This is a 7-Day Kilimanjaro hike starting at Machame Gate to the south west of the national park. It ascends sharply through afromontane forest, into the heath zone and on to the edge of the remnants of the Shira Volcano (Kilimanjaro Climbing/ kilimanjaro trekking/ Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour via Machame 7 Days).
The Route then circumnavigates the main peak, Kibo, anticlockwise. En Route we pass some spectacular features such as giant steps and glacial valleys. The final ascent is from Barafu Camp. It is a night time ascent to Uhuru Peak via Stella Point. The descent is via the Mweka Route (Kilimanjaro Climbing/ kilimanjaro trekking/ Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour via Machame 7 Days).

The Machame Route known as the “Whiskey” Route, begins at Machame Gate. It is located on the southern base of the mountain, in its green, abundant rainforest. We climb to the Shira Plateau, then traverse the mountain beneath Kilimanjaro’s Southern Icefield (8 Days machame Route |Kilimanjaro Climbing via machame Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Machame Route |Kilimanjaro Trekking via Machame Route).
We will make our summit approach from Barafu Hut. The total time on the mountain is 8 Days (8 Days machame Route |Kilimanjaro Climbing via machame Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Machame Route |Kilimanjaro Trekking via Machame Route).
MARANGU Route |CLIMBING KILIMANJARO VIA MARANGU Route |Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MARANGU Route |KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MARANGU Route |TREKKING MT KILIMANJARO VIA MARANGU Route
Marangu Route offers a slow, steady climb to each of the daily camps, which has given it the reputation for being an easy trek. Don’t underestimate this trail however, as the approach to the final camp can be physically demanding with roughly 1000 meters of vertical gain on that Day alone (Marangu Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing via marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
Of course, summit Day on Kilimanjaro is always a challenge no matter which direction you approach from, making the final steps onto the top all the more satisfying (Marangu Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing via marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
Because it is one of the shortest treks to the summit – requiring just five Days to reach Uhuru Peak – the Marangu Route is a popular one with trekkers who have a limited amount of time for their climb (Marangu Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing via marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
The downside to this is that it doesn’t provide as much of an opportunity to acclimatize to the altitude. Because of this, Marangu Route has the highest failure rate of any of the Routes up Mount Kilimanjaro. Keep that in mind when choosing this option for your Kilimanjaro trek (Marangu Route, Kilimanjaro Climbing via marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).

MARANGU 2 Days |Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MARANGU Route |2 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MARANGU Route |2 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MARANGU Route |KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA MARANGU 2 Days TOUR
The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” Route, is the oldest, most well established Route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only Route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required (Marangu 2 Days climbing tour, Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour |Kilimanjaro trekking |Kilimanjaro Climbing).
The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut (Marangu 2 Days climbing tour, Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour |Kilimanjaro trekking |Kilimanjaro Climbing).
Many favor Marangu because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. However the short time frame of the Route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is unfortunately less scenic than the other Routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path. It is also the most crowded Route for that reason (Marangu 2 Days climbing tour, Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour |Kilimanjaro trekking |Kilimanjaro Climbing).
The Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route is perhaps the easiest and most comfortable Route to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. The Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route is well-developed and the climb is constant and moderate. Only the approach to the summit is the exception as it is slightly more demanding. The accommodation on this tour is in simple mountain huts, which might be an advantage compared to the camping Routes (Marangu 2 Days climbing tour, Kilimanjaro Hiking Tour |Kilimanjaro trekking |Kilimanjaro Climbing).
MARANGU 5 Days |5 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MARANGU Route |5 Days CLIMBING KILIMANJARO/KILIMANJARO TREKKING VIA MARANGU Route
The Marangu Route is also known as the "Coca Cola" or "tourist" Route. It is the easiest and shortest Route to the summit. This is also the only Route with the comforts of sleeping huts at every camp site with solar lights and comfortable beds. The huts are communal, and the bunks have a sponge mattress and pillow (Marangu Route 5 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing |Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |5 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Marangu Route |5 Days kilimanjaro Trekking via Marangu).
There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms and running water (cold) are available at the two lower huts. Mens and womens latrines are available at the last camp but are very basic (Marangu Route 5 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing |Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |5 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Marangu Route |5 Days kilimanjaro Trekking via Marangu).
All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere. Soft drinks, bottled water, and beer may be for sale at the huts. Bring small Tanzanian bills to purchase these items (prices increase with elevation) (Marangu Route 5 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing |Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |5 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Marangu Route |5 Days kilimanjaro Trekking via Marangu).
This Route is usually done in 5 Days but can be done in 6 Days for better acclimatization. The extra Day can be spent resting at Horombo or climbing the small peak of Mawenzi (Marangu Route 5 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing |Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |5 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking via Marangu Route |5 Days kilimanjaro Trekking via Marangu).
MARANGU 6 Days |6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing VIA MARANGU Route |6 Days KILIMANJARO HIKING VIA MARANGU Route
Kilimanjaro trekking Marangu Route 6 Days itinerary is what we recommend as it allows one Day of acclimatization at Horombo on the 3rd Day. Named cocacola Route & considered to be the easiest rout of all, this has proved wrong as we have encountered a high failure rate on this Route. This is due to that perception which leads to poor preparation and untimely attempt. Despite of being fairly easier the final part to the summit is hard (Marangu 6 Days tour |6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |6 Days kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
Marangu is the only Route offers hut accommodation with beds & mattress. Soft drinks, mineral water, chocolate bar & beer can be purchased at the camps but trash in trash out is closely observed (Marangu 6 Days tour |6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |6 Days kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
Marangu Route 6 Days itinerary is advisable though you can still hike for 5 Days and miss the acclimatization Day at Horombo which may sometime be the reason of not making it to the top. Short Tanzania safari or beach holiDays in Zanzibar can be combined with your Kilimanjaro hiking upon request (Marangu 6 Days tour |6 Days Kilimanjaro Climbing via Marangu Route |Kilimanjaro hiking via Marangu Route |6 Days kilimanjaro trekking via marangu Route).
