7 Days Rongai Route Climb

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

• Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to a hotel in Moshi.
• Attend a pre-trek briefing where guides provide essential information about the trek.
• Conduct a thorough equipment check to ensure everyone is prepared for the journey.
• Relax and rest at the hotel in preparation for the trek.

Day 2: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

• After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to the Rongai Gate.
• Complete registration and meet the trekking team, including guides, porters, and cooks.
• Begin the trek through dense rainforest, encountering diverse flora and fauna.
• Reach Simba Camp for the first night's stay, nestled in the lush surroundings.

Day 3: Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

• Ascend through the rainforest and enter the heath and moorland zones.
• Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and distant peaks.
• Set up camp at Kikelewa Camp, where the air is crisp and the scenery is awe-inspiring.

Day 4: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn

• Trek through alpine desert landscapes, characterized by rocky terrains.
• Arrive at Mawenzi Tarn, a glacial lake with stunning reflections of the surrounding peaks.
• Spend an acclimatization day at this campsite to prepare for higher altitudes.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut

• Continue the ascent toward the Kibo Hut, traversing the lunar-like landscape.
• Arrive at Kibo Hut, the base for the summit attempt, and prepare for the challenging climb.
• Rest and hydrate in preparation for the early morning summit push.

Day 6: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak

• Begin the ascent to Uhuru Peak well before dawn, navigating steep and challenging terrain.
• Reach the summit at sunrise, an awe-inspiring moment with breathtaking panoramic views.
• Descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest and overnight stay.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

• Descend through lush rainforest, retracing the route taken on the ascent.
• Arrive at Marangu Gate, where the trek concludes with a celebration.
• Receive certificates of achievement and bid farewell to the trekking team.
• Return to Moshi for a comfortable rest and reflection on the incredible journey.
